Table 20. Error codes
Error
code Description Recommended action
20 One of the following errors occurred:
v System configuration error
v
Over temperature
v Inventory failure
v
Servo initialization or servo move
failed
For a system configuration error, correct the
problem and retry the operation. See
“Configuring the library” on page 15 for more
information.
For an over-temperature condition, complete
the following steps:
1. Make sure that the room temperature is
within allowable limits. See
“Environmental specifications” on page
49 for more information.
2. Make sure that the fan is turning. If the
fan is not turning, make sure that it is not
obstructed. If the fan is not obstructed,
replace the library chassis.
For an inventory failure, complete the
following steps:
1. Make sure that the correct cartridge is
installed.
2. Make sure that the bar-code label is
correct and that it is correctly placed on
the cartridge.
For a servo error, complete the following
steps:
1. Check the error log for other error codes.
See “Event logs” on page 18 for more
information.
2. Open the magazine doors and check for
an obstruction (for example, a misplaced
cartridge). See “Release magazines” on
page 19 for the procedure to open the
doors.
21 The operation failed. Retry the operation. If the problem recurs,
contact IBM support.
22 The operation cannot begin because
a resource is in use.
Wait for the operation to be completed; then,
retry the operation.
23 An expected response or event did
not occur with the allocated time.
Check the error log for other error codes.
See “Event logs” on page 18 for more
information; then, retry the operation. If the
problem recurs, contact IBM support.
24 A software error was detected. Retry the operation. If the problem recurs,
contact IBM support.
25 A move was attempted while the
gripper was holding a tape cartridge.
Move the tape cartridge in the gripper to a
magazine slot. See “Move tape” on page 20
for more information.
26 An invalid task identifier was
detected.
Retry the operation. If the problem recurs,
contact IBM support.
