Attaching with FICON adapters
This section tells you how to configure the storage unit for a FICON attachment.
Configuring the storage unit for FICON attachment on zSeries hosts
This topic provides configuration information for FICON attachment on zSeries
hosts.
You can perform a FICON channel attachment on the IBM TotalStorage DS6000.
See the IBM TotalStorage DS6000 Introduction and Planning Guide for a list of the
FICON host adapter features codes. This publication also contains the number of
FICON host adapters, cable group numbers, number of cables, and connector IDs
to order for the cables.
Attachment considerations for attaching with FICON adapters on
zSeries hosts
This section describes some things you should consider before you configure your
system with a FICON interface.

Setting up ESCON and FICON links
If the system requires x ESCON links, where x is the number of links to get the
performance and availability attributes you want, you must consider the number of
FICON links you need. For example, you can map 4 ESCON links to a single
FICON link and maintain approximately equivalent performance.
