Touch the static-protective package containing the new drive to any unpainted
metal surface and then remove the drive from the package.

Place the new drive on the drive bracket, and insert and tighten the screws.

Reinstall the drive bracket by placing it in the sliding back in the computer.
Insert and tighten the screw. The following illustration shows the drive
bracket being reinstalled.

Connect the power and signal cables to all the drives in the computer.

What to do next

Go to the device-record form in Using Your Personal Computer and record the
new installation.

To install a drive in bay 2, go to “Installing a Drive in Bay 2” on page 42.

To complete the installation, go to Chapter 7, “Completing the Installation”
on page 62.
