Installing a hot-swap hard disk drive
The following illustration shows how to install a hot-swap hard disk drive.
Notes:
1. The illustrations in this document might differ slightly from your hardware.
2. You do not have to turn off the server to install hot-swap hard drives in these
bays.
To install a drive in a hot-swap bay:
1. Attention: When you handle Electrostatic Discharge-Sensitive devices (ESD), take
precautions to avoid damage from static electricity. For details on handling these
devices, refer to the following Web site and search for ESD: http://www.ibm.com
Review “Before you begin” on page 71.
2. Attention: To maintain proper system cooling, do not operate the server for more
than 10 minutes without either a drive or a filler panel installed for each bay.
