Bar Code Terminology
The following explains the bar code terminology used in this book:

NBW (Narrow Bar
Width) ---------- Thin black bar width
Ø
NSW (Narrow Space Width) ---------- Thin white space width
Ø
WBW (Wide Bar Width) --------------- Bold black bar width
Ø
WSW (Wide Space Width) ------------- Bold white space width
A bar code consists of a combination of NBW, NSW, WBW, and WSW. (One
character is indicated by two or more black bars and white spaces.)

CGP (inter Character GaP) ---------- Gap between characters
Specifies a bar code width between characters of a bar code.
Ø
HT (HeighT) ---------------- Bar code height
Indicates the bar code height including the HRI height for EAN code.
For other codes, the HRI height is not included.
Ø
LMRG (Left MaRGin) --------- Left margin
Ø
RMRG (Right MaRGin) --------- Right margin
Indicate the spaces on the left and right of a bar code.
This is a space used in order that the bar code reader recognizes the beginning
and end of a bar code. In this printer, the following is set: (1/180 inch unit =
about 0.14 mm)

XOFF (X OFFset) ---------- X-direction offset from the current

YOFF (Y OFFset) ---------- Y-direction offset from the current
The current position means the upper-left end of the area determined
depending on the set character pitch and line pitch. (See the figure.)
