Chapter 5. Installation Planning and Site Preparation

This chapter describes what is necessary for planning the installation of the IBM
5400-006 printer. This chapter includes:

Site preparation

Physical specifications (including layout plan)

Power requirements

Interface cable

Environmental conditions

The IBM 5400-006 printer is connected via a system port or a parallel port.

When connected with the system port, it connected to the host via a twinax
cable.

When connected with the parallel port, it is connected to the PC printing con-
nector via a parallel interface printing cable.

In establishing an installation plan, refer also to the documents relating to the instal-
lation plan for the host system.

5.1.1 Site Preparation

The IBM 5400-006 printer is designed so that the user can establish and perform
an installation plan. Below is a table of customer responsibilities:
