You can get a reference to real time looking at date and time of the file using Windows Explorer. It
gets updated on every write.
Alternatively, the software can write the timestamp as realtime (seconds since 01.01.1904 12:00). To
select this option, go to
system settings, logfiles
and set the switch timestamp in live files to
seconds since 1904
.
Converting seconds since 1904 to time and date string
If you want to use the live data files with a spread sheet software (e.g. Excel), you can convert the
seconds since 1904 to a time and date string using the following formula:
((seconds/60/60+timezone)/24+4*365+2
Format this cell as date
Timezone is the difference between universal time (GMT) to your local time.
Remark:
Excel has an option to use a different timebase:
Go to Extra, Options, Calculations, select “1904 timebase”
If you use this option, leave away the last part of the formula (+4*365+2).
Example:
1. Open the file with Excel
2. Mark the first colon and insert an empty colon.
3. In the new colon, type in the formula stated above and copy it to the other lines.
4. Format the new colon as date or time according to your needs.
