●
Symmetrical distribution of service resources: When the RH8100 V3 operates
in dual-system mode, its service resources are symmetrically distributed in the
two partitions.
●
Internal integrated GE ports: When the RH8100 V3 operates in dual-system
mode, the internal integrated GE ports are used for communication between
the two partitions.
●
Joint control over platform resources: When the RH8100 V3 operates in dual-
system mode, fan modules and PSUs can be globally shared between and
jointly controlled by the two partitions to maximize overall performance.
●
DVD drive and LCD sharing: When the RH8100 V3 operates in dual-system
mode, the two partitions share the DVD drive and LCD, which facilitates local
maintenance and enables one-click switching between the system operating
modes.
2.7 RAS Features
This topic describes the Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) features
supported by the RH8100 V3.
The RH8100 V3 supports various RAS features. You can configure these features to
improve server RAS.
● For details about the RAS features, see the Huawei
RH8100 V3 Rack Server RAS White
Paper
● For details about how to configure the RAS features in the BIOS, see the
Brickland Platform BIOS Parameter Reference
The RAS features are considered from top-level architecture design to underlying
hardware design, and are ensured by following stringent processes in the R&D and
test phases.
2.8 Hard Partitioning Feature
The RH8100 V3 employs the Huawei FusionPar technology to implement the hard
partitioning function. The RH8100 V3 can operate in single-system or dual-system
mode. FusionPar changes the interconnection topology between CPUs based on
the collaboration between iBMC and the BIOS. In single-system mode, eight CPUs
are in the same QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) topology. In dual-system mode,
eight CPUs are divided into two groups and the four CPUs in each group are in a
QPI topology. In short, the CPUs connected over QPI links are in one partition.
●
The default mode is single-system. In this mode, the RH8100 V3 operates as a
single system.
●
The dual-system mode is also called dual-partition mode. In this mode, the
RH8100 V3 operates as two 4-socket systems: systems A and B, which are also
called partitions A and B.
The hard partitioning function improves service load flexibility. You can set the
operating mode of the RH8100 V3 based on service requirements, which helps
maximize return on investment (ROI).
