A.1 Glossary

BMC

Stands for baseboard management controller. The BMC collects,

processes, and stores sensor signals, and monitors the status of

various components in compliance with the Intelligent Platform

Management Interface (IPMI) standard. The BMC provides High-

performance Fusion Console (HFC) modules with the hardware

status and alarms of managed objects for management.

mezzanin

e module

A device that is connected to the mainboard through a connector

and level to the mainboard. It is usually used on a device that

requires high space utilization.

Ethernet

A baseband local area network (LAN) architecture developed by

Xerox Corporation by jointly with Intel and DEC. Ethernet uses the

Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Detection (CSMA/CD) access

method and allows data transfer over various cables at 10 Mbit/s.

The Ethernet specification is the basis for the IEEE 802.3 standard.

An extended and enhanced Ethernet standard based on traditional

sharing media, which is compatible with 10M and 100M Ethernet

and complies with the IEEE 802.3z standard.
