Install the access panel (on page 19 ).

Do one of the following:
o Slide the server into the rack.
o
Install the server into the rack.

Power up the server (on page 15 ).
Drive cable options
Use these drive cable options to install a Host Bus Adapter or a Smart Array Controller board option.
For more information about product features, specifications, options, configurations, and compatibility,

Mini-SAS cable options
To connect the cable option:
1.
Power down the server (on page 15 ).
2.
Remove all power:
a.
Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b.
Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3.
Do one of the following:
o
Extend the server from the rack (on page 15 ).
o Remove the server from the rack (on page 18 ).
4.
Remove the access panel (on page 18 ).
5.
Remove the secondary PCI riser cage (" Remove the PCI riser cage " on page 21 ).
6.
Remove the baffle from the controller board.
7.
Remove the existing full-height bracket on the controller board and install the low-profile bracket that
ships with the option.
8.
Disconnect the existing Mini-SAS cables from the system board and the drive backplane.
9.
If you intend to use a cache module and Smart Storage Battery, install these options now. (" Storage
controller options " on page 39 )
10.
Install the storage controller.
H240 and P440 cards can only be installed in slot 1 of the primary PCI riser cage.
11.
Connect the common end of the Mini-SAS cable to the controller option.
12.
Install the secondary PCI riser cage (" Install the PCI riser cage " on page 23 ).
