Belt comes off
A stretch belt is used on these machines because there is no movement in the motor to
allow for adjustment. They are easy to fit if you go about it in the right way. Hook one
end on the motor pulley and feed the belt onto the main pulley as far as possible, holding
it in place with a cable tie. Through the door opening, rotate the drum slowly anti clock
wise, this will draw the belt onto the pulley and the cable tie will snap when the belt is
fully on.
If the belt is frayed it will crack as it goes round.
If the belt is worn it will come off and possibly make bumping noises as it goes round
These belts contain a certain amount of carbon and act as an earth between the inner
drum and the motor, dissipating any static electricity that may build up. If replacing
the belt only fit a Hotpoint one, or the LEDs on your machine could light it up like a
Christmas tree.
