NOTE: The W8710A may be delayed in transmitting the
Alert Report if the customer’s phone is busy or out-
of-service. If so, the D/T at the time the fault is
detected can differ from the D/T at the time the report
was faxed.

Current return air temperature: The return air tempera-
ture when the report was transmitted.
NOTE: This can differ from the actual return air temperature
at the time the fault was detected; see item 6.

Current supply air temperature: The supply air tempera-
ture when the report was transmitted.
NOTE: This can differ from the actual return air temperature
at the time the fault was detected; see item 6.

Current relative humidity %: The relative humidity %
(located in the return air sensor) when the report was
transmitted.
NOTE: This can differ from the actual relative humidity at the
time the fault was detected; see item 6.

System delay setting: The amount of time the W8710A
waits after a fault condition is detected before transmit-
ting an alert report. This time is factory-set for minutes
(but can be adjusted during monitor setup). The delay
setting is usually the time it takes for the HVAC system
to stabilize.

External temperature: The outside ambient air tempera-
ture is included in the Alert Report when the External
(outside) Air Temperature Sensor is connected. The
External Air Temperature Sensor is required on heat
pump systems, but can also be used with conventional
systems when outside temperature is desired.
12.
Hour of operation: Shows the hours of operation for
each mode (cooling, heating, and fan). This information
is used for scheduling routine maintenance service and
air filter cleaning.
13.
Mode setting: Shows the unit operating mode at the
time of the Alert Report.

The W8710A calculated D/T is: This is what the D/T
should have been (as calculated by the W8710A) when
the problem was detected.
15.
This is the actual D/T at the time of fault. This is the
W8710A-calculated D/T at the time of fault (what the
actual D/T was when the problem was detected).
NOTE: If the customer’s phone was busy when the fault was
detected, the D/T at the time of fault can differ from
the difference between the Current Return Air Tem-
perature and the Current Supply Air Temperature
(see item 6).

Low D/T is usually caused by...: This line advises the
primary reason why most HVAC systems have this
problem.

Other causes may be: This is a list of other possible rea-
sons for the fault condition. Item 16 and these sugges-
tions provide troubleshooting information for quicker
repair and correct service technician dispatching.

Attention - your fax did not respond; report is delayed:
This advises that your fax machine was busy or the tele-
phone company’s circuit/outside line was busy when the
Honeywell Central Station first attempted to fax the Alert
Report to you.
