5. Installation and commissioning
5.1. General
The following points must be noted in order to prevent
damages to the pump during installation and operation:
•
The installation work must be carried out by qualified
personnel in compliance with the safety regulations.
•
The pump must be checked for possible damages
prior to installation.
•
Air pockets in the pump casing and in pipes must be
absolutely avoided (by means of appropriate venting
facilities or slight tilting of the pump).
•
Protect the pump from frost.
•
The power lines of the pump must run in a way that
hazard-free operation and easy assembly/disassem-
bly is possible.
5.2. Fitting
Danger of falls!
When mounting the pump and its accessories, work
is carried out directly at the edge of the basin! Care-
lessness or wrong footwear can lead to falls. There
is danger to life! Take all safety measures to prevent
this.
Fix the pressure pipe or the hose on the pressure branch
of the pump and lay the pressure pipe. When using a
threaded hose connection or pipe connection, the hose
connector at the branch of the pump can be cut off. Ad-
ditionally, a swing check valve can be mounted in the
pressure pipe to prevent backward running of the water
when the pump is switched off. The pressure pipe must
be mounted without tension. When using a hose, it must
be ensured that this is laid out without bends. When us-
ing accessories, e.g. a quick coupling or similar, it has to
be ensured that these are sealed with Teflon tape, since
leakage reduces the conveyor performance of the pump.
Fix the pump on the handhold with a rope or chain and
lower down into the medium. In the event of muddy
ground, lay stones (or sim.) under the pump to prevent
sinking.
Installation on the ground
Mount the pressure pipe with the aid of a Storz-fixed cou-
pling that is screwed onto the central pressure connection
or with an STA hose coupling. The pressure pipe must be
laid out without bends. The internal diameter of the pipe
must correspond to that of the pressure connection. Place
pump into the medium. When used on muddy, sagging
ground stones or similar must be laid under the pump or
it must be placed in a close-meshed basket, so that the
intake strainer is protected from obstruction.
Special operation
With the type TP4-1 pump, it can be pumped down to a
residual water level of about 40mm. Through disassem-
bling the suction sieve (Pos. 143.01) and screen floor
(Pos. 185), by loosening the screw (Pos. 914.01) the pum-
ping is possible with reduced conveying capacity up to a
level of about 5mm. With the type TP8-1 pump, it can be
pumped down to a residual water level of about 90mm.
Further pumping like with the TP4-1 is not possible.
5.3. Commissioning
This chapter contains all important instructions for oper-
ating personnel for safe commissioning and operation of
the machinery. The following must be complied with and
checked:
•
Type of installation
•
Operation mode
•
Minimal submersion in water / maximum submersion
depth
After a longer downtime these points must also be
checked and detected defaults must be repaired!
The operation and maintenance manual must always
be kept with the machinery, or in a dedicated place
where it is accessible for the entire operating person-
nel.
The following points must be taken into account to avoid
personal and material damage when troubleshooting ma-
chinery failures:
•
The commissioning of the machinery must only
be carried out by qualified and trained personnel
in compliance with the safety regulations.
•
All personnel that is working on the machinery must
have received, read and understood the operating in-
structions.
•
Activate all safety equipment and emergency switch-
offs before commissioning.
•
Electrotechnical and mechanical settings must only
be carried out by specialists.
•
This machinery is only suitable for the use under the
indicated operating conditions.
•
After storage longer than one year the oil of motor
and, if necessary the gear have to be changed. This
is also necessary if the product never had run (natural
deterioration of mineral oil).
Before start-up, the filling levels (oil, cooling fluid
etc.) of the individual products should be checked and
topped up if required. Please refer to the machine data
sheet for specifications on filling. Damaged coatings
should be repaired immediately. Only a coating that
is completely intact fulfills the criteria for intended
usage!
If these rules are observed, your product can be stored
for a longer period. Please remember that elastomer parts
and coatings become brittle naturally. If the product is
to be stored for longer than 6 months, we recommend
checking these parts and replacing them as necessary.
Please consult the manufacturer.
4.4. Returning to the supplier
Products which are delivered to the plant must be clean
and correctly packaged. In this context, clean means
that impurities have been removed and decontaminat-
ed if it has been used with materials which are hazard-
ous to health. The packaging must protect the product
against damage. Please contact the manufacturer before
returning!
