Windows XP or Vista
1. Click
Start/Control Panel
. Double-click
Network
Connections
.
2. In the
LAN or High-Speed Internet
section, right-click the
icon corresponding to your network adapter (or network
bridge, if you have created one) and select
Properties
.
3. In the
General
tab of the
Local Area Connection
Properties
window, scroll through the list and highlight
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
.
4. Click
Properties
, select
Obtain an IP address
automatically
and
Obtain DNS server address
automatically
.
5. Click
OK
to close the windows, then exit the
Control
Panel
.
The Hercules Router will now be able to assign an IP address
to your computer.
An
IP address
is a unique address assigned by the router to
the computer. Each computer has its own identity, via its IP
address, allowing it to be identified within the network.
