Radio coverage

When radio waves penetrate solid material, e.g. walls or furniture, they are attenuated, that is absorbed.
Metal objects reflect the radio waves. The reflection occurs on nearly all metallic surfaces (e.g. mirrors, thermal insulation foils)
as well as materials (e.g. metal door frames, steel or sheet metal cabinets) and also on structural steel. Thermal insulation with
metal foil lining also reflects the radio waves.
Radio wave attenuation is frequently caused by weather conditions, including air humidity and moisture in materials, such as
wood, walls, etc.
The wireless range of heatapp! components can only be specified for unimpeded paths. Without obstacles (clear line-of-sight
without walls, glass, furniture or other objects), the radio waves of the heatapp! components can travel up to 60 metres. In
occupied buildings the range through walls and furniture, and due to operational conditions is less. As no building is identically
the same to any other building, we refer to wireless coverage.
The radio/wireless network is formed by the registering of radio components with the heatapp! gateway . Checking of the
wireless coverage and functioning of the radio network takes place in connection status. Here the functions Connection test and
Repair radio system are available.
13.1 Testing the wireless coverage
After the radio components have been positioned/installed in their intended location, the wireless coverage must be checked. To
do so, we use the connection status in the Radio components menu of the
heatapp! gateway .
Note
The heatapp! gateway menu is only available in the local network. In the app, select Settings > Gateway > Radio components.
Alternatively, you can also open the gateway menu via the IP address in the Internet browser of your PC.
