4.6.2

Heat Exchanger

The heat exchanger is a simple 2 fan radiator system where the first fan comes on at
a coolant temperature of 32

o

C and the second fan comes on at 38

o

C. The heat

exchanger receives ac (this could be single phase or 3 phase depending on the
transmitter model) for the fans from the motor contactors in the Cooling System
Control Panel, K1 and K2. Each fan on the heat exchanger has an electrical isolator
switch which can be used to manually remove ac from the motors for servicing. Fan
ON status lines pass through the 4th pole on the isolator switch for local status on
the Pump Control Panel.

4.6.3

Transmitter Cold Plates

There are up to 12 cold plates in a single Atlas PA cabinet. Eight (8) module cold
plates which are physically mounted to the PA modules and must be removed with
the module and four (4) cold plates to which the PA module reject loads are
mounted. The reject load cold plates are mounted in the rear of the PA cabinet on
the upper left side (when looking from the back of the transmitter).

4.6.4

Pump Control Panel

The Pump Control Panel is a simple relay logic control box which switches the ac to
the pump module and the heat exchanger and interfaces control commands and
status to and from the transmitter. It also has a primary disconnect or isolator
switch, local pump select buttons and several local status LEDs for maintenance and
troubleshooting. Refer to the Cooling System Electrical Diagram (843-5396-865 for
3 phase or 843-5396-880 for single phase) for the following Pump Control Panel
descriptions.

The Pump Control Panel is separated into 2 parts;

a.

Those parts mounted on the Control PC board and

b.

The parts which are simply mounted inside the Control Box.

NOTE:

It is important to note that this causes there to be two K1’s, two K2’s, two
K3’s and two K4’s. One of each of these is a large relay mounted to the box
while the other is a small relay mounted on the PC board. The wiring diagram
shows dashed lines enclosing those parts not on the PC board (labeled Con-
trol Box).
