operating instructions
FIRST FIRE
Thefirstfireinyourstoveispartofthepaintcuring
process.Toensurethatthepaintisproperlycured,
itisrecommendedthatyouburnyourfireplacefor
atleastfour(4.hoursthefirsttimeyouuseitwith
thefanon.Whenfirstoperated,theunitwillrelease
an odour caused by the curing of the paint, the
burningoffofanyoilsremainingfrommanufacturing.
Smokedetectorsinthehousemaygooffatthis
time.Openafewwindowstoventilatetheroomfor
acoupleofhours.
Theglasspanelmayrequirecleaningaftertheunit
hascooleddown.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLEAN THE
GLASS WHILE IT IS HOT.
Note: When the glass is cold and the appliance
is lit, it may cause condensation and fog
the glass. This condensation is normal
and will disappear in a few minutes as
the glass heats up.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Readandunderstandtheseinstructionsbefore
operatingthisappliance.
2. Check to see that all wiring is correct and
enclosedtopreventpossibleshock.
3. Checktoensuretherearenogasleaks.
4. Makesuretheglassinthedoorframeisproperly
positioned.Neveroperatetheappliancewith
theglassremoved.
5. Verifythattheventingandcapareunobstructed.
6. Verify log placement. If the pilot cannot be
seenwhenlightingtheunit,thelogshavebeen
incorrectlypositioned.
7. The unit should never be turned off, and on
againwithoutaminimumofa60secondwait.

NOTE:Thisappliancewilloperatewith4AAback-
up batteries installed (see Back-up Battery
sectionfordetails)duringpoweroutages.Only
theoptionalfanandlightwillnotoperateuntil
powerisrestored.Iftheremoteismisplaced,
the unit can be shut off by flipping the main
ON/OFFswitch,locatedbehindthefrontcover
plate,tothe
OFFposition.

with this appliance has several options for

OPERATION USING AN OPTIONAL
WALL THERMOSTAT
AllHamptonstovesshipwithafullfunctionremote
controlasstandardequipment.Thisallowsforbasic
on/offfunctionaswellastheabilitytooperateas
athermostat.Withtheadditionofanoptionalwall
cradle (820-477-AWT available from an autho-
rizeddealer)theremotecanresideonawalland
carryoutallthefunctionsofatypicalmillivoltwall
thermostataswellasbeingabletocontrolthefan
speed,accentlightandtheflameheight.Thisis
therecommendedprocedureforoperatingtheunit
withathermostaticsetpoint.
Ifamillivoltwallthermostatisrequiredforbedroom
installationoraspreferredmethodofcontrollingthe
stovetherearetwooptions.
Option 1
1.Unscrewaccessdoorwith2xPhilipsheadscrews
togainaccesstoIFCboard.
2. Turn fireplace ON using the remote control.
Ensure thermostat function on top right hand
cornerisinOFFpostion.Seebelow.Presetyour
desiredflameheight/Fanspeed(onlyIfoptional
fanisinstalled).
3.ConnectthermostattoON/OFFswitch(Note:ON/
OFFswitchremovedtoshowwiring).
4.Cutgreyswitchwireandstripgreyswitchwire
asshownbelow(Image3).

5.Stripthermostatwiresandconnectthermostat
wirestogreyswitchwiresandMarrettewiresas
showbelow.(Image4)
6. Divorce the remote from the IFC by pressing
theblackresetButtonlocatedontheleftsideof
theunitasshownbelowuntilanaudible“beep”
isheard.Repeatthissteponemoretime,the
remotewillnowbedivorced.
Reset switch
*Note: The pilot flame will automatically be in
CPI mode once the remote is divorced.
*Note: if power is lost and there is no battery
backup, this would have to be repeated as
functionality is lost.
7.WiththethermostatconnectedandtheRemote
Divorced from the system, call for heat using
thewallmountedthermostat.Theunitwillfire
upwithallpresetfunctionssetontheremote.
