1) Provide adequate clearances for servicing,
properoperationandaroundtheairopenings
intothecombustionchamber.
2) Theappliancemustbeinstalledonaflat,solid,
continuoussurface(e.g.wood,metal,concrete).
Thismaybethefloor,oritcanberaisedup
onaplatformtoenhanceitsvisualimpact.The
appliancemaybeinstalledoncarpeting,tile,
wood flooring or other combustible material,
becausetheappliance'sbaseextendsthefull
widthanddepthoftheappliance.TheDirect
VentFreestandingGasStovecanbeinstalled
inawidevarietyofwaysandwillfitnearlyany
roomlayout.Itmaybeinstalledinarecessed
position,framedoutintotheroom,oracross
acorner.
3) TheDirectVentFreestandingGasStoveis
approvedforalcoveinstallations,whichmeet
the clearances listed in the "Clearance to
Combustibles"section.Thisunitisapproved
formanufacturedhomeinstallations,seethe
"Manufactured Mobile Home Additional Re-
quirements"and"RigidPipeVentingSystems"
sectionsfortherequiredventarrangements.
Ifinstalledintoamanufacturedhometheunit
mustbebolteddowntothefloor.
4) ThisapplianceisListedforbedroominstal-
lationswhenusedwithaListedMillivoltTher-
mostat.Someareasmayhavefurtherrequire-
ments,checklocalcodesbeforeinstallation.
5) ThisapplianceisListedforAlcoveinstallations,
maintainminimumAlcoveclearancesasfol-
lows,minimumwidthof32-1/2"(825mm),a
maximumdepthof36"(914mm),andminimum
heightof24"(610mm)fromtopofunittoceiling.
6) Werecommendthatyouplanyourinstallationon
paperusingexactmeasurementsforclearances
andfloorprotectionbeforeactuallyinstallingthis
appliance.Haveaqualifiedbuildinginspector
reviewyourplansbeforeinstallation.
GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION
1) Theapplianceinstallationmustconformwith
localCanadianElectricalCode.
2) Theappliancewheninstalled,mustbeelectri-
callygroundedinaccordancewithlocalcodes,
orintheabsenceoflocalcodeswiththecurrent
NationalElectricalCode,ANSI/NFPA70orCSA
C22.1CanadianElectricalCode.
3) Theapplianceshouldbeinspectedforshipping
damagebeforeuseand
serviced annually by
a professional service person.Morefrequent
cleaning may be required due to excessive
lint from carpeting, bedding material, etc. It
isimperativethatcontrolcompartments,and
circulatingairpassagewaysoftheappliance
bekeptcleanandfreefromexcessivelintfrom
carpeting.
4) See general construction and assembly in-
structions.Theapplianceandventshouldbe
enclosedwheninstalledinorpassingthrougha
livingarea,wherechildrenmaycomeincontact
withit.
5) Thisappliancemustbeconnectedtothespeci-
fiedventandterminationcaptotheoutsideof
the building envelope.Never vent to another
roomorinsideabuilding.Makesurethatthe
ventisfittedaspertheinstructionsstartingin
the"ExteriorVentTerminalLocations"section.
6) Inspecttheventingsystemannuallyforblock-
ageandanysignsofdeterioration.
7) Ventingterminalsshallnotberecessedintoa
wallorsiding.
8) Anysafetyglassremovedforservicingmust
bereplacedpriortooperatingtheappliance.
9) Topreventinjury,donotallowanyonewhois
unfamiliarwiththeoperationtousethefireplace.

Before leaving this unit with the customer, the
installermustensurethattheapplianceisfiringcor-
rectlyand
operation fully explained to customer.
This includes:
1) Clockingtheappliancetoensurethecorrect
firing rate (rate noted on label) after burning
appliancefor15minutes.
2) Ifrequired,adjustingtheprimaryairtoensure
thattheflamedoesnotcarbon.Firstallowthe
unittoburnfor15-20min.tostabilize.
CAUTION: Any alteration to the product that
causes sooting or carboning that results in dam-
age is not the responsibility of the manufacturer.
