Installation

TherearetwobasictypesofDura-VentDirectVent
Systeminstallations:horizontalterminationandver-
ticaltermination.Confirmthemaximumhorizontal
runandmaximumverticalrisefromthediagrams
inthe"RigidPipeVentingSystems"section.

Whenplanningyourinstallation,itwillbenecessary
to select the proper length of vent pipe for your
particularrequirements.Forhorizontalinstallations,
determinetheminimumclearancefromtherearof
theunittothewall.Itisalsoimportanttonotethe
wallthickness.(Thewallthimbleissuitablefor2

x4or2x6wallconstruction.)Selecttheamount
ofverticalrisedesiredfor"vertical-to-horizontal"
typeinstallations.

Warning:  Always maintain required 

clearances (air spaces) to nearby 

combustibles to prevent a fire hazard. 

Do not fill air spaces with insulation. 

Theminimumclearancerequirementsbetweenthe
outerwalloftheventpipeandnearbycombustible
surfacesis1-1/4inch.Besuretocheckthevent
termination clearance requirements from decks,
windows,soffits,gasregulators,airsupplyinlets
andpublicwalkwaysasspecifiedinthe"Exterior

VentTerminalLocations"sectionandinyourlocal
buildingcodes.

Todeterminethelengthofventpiperequiredfor
verticalinstallations,measurethedistancefromthe
unitflueoutlettotheceiling,theceilingthickness,
theverticalriseinanatticorsecondstorey,and
allowforsufficientverticalheightabovetheroofline.

Formulti-storeyapplications,firestopsarerequired
ateachfloorlevel.Ifanoffsetisneeded,additional
pipe,elbowsandsupportswillberequired.

Donotexceedthemaximumnumberofelbows.
