Configuration #9 - CASCADE BOILERS WITH DOMESTIC HOT WATER DIVERTING VALVE
(Must add heating harness WRE74090 to the Lead Boiler only)
• A room thermostat is to be connected to terminals 5 & 6 (or 13 & 14, 57 & 58 depending on model) of the
LEAD BOILER ONLY
. If no yellow jumper wire is attached to terminals 5 & 6 (or 13 & 14, 57 & 58 depending
on model), which will be removed to connect room thermostat, additional wiring is required. Consult factory.
• In this configuration an external sensor or aquastat MUST be connected to terminals 1 & 2 (or 3 & 4, 28 & 29,
depending on model) on the
LEAD BOILER ONLY
and be positioned to sense common loop temperature
(after/at the low loss header).
• The tank sensor or aquastat is to be connected to harness leads labeled “Tank Sensor” in the Lead boiler.
• The domestic hot water diverting valve is to be connected to the harness leads in the Lead boiler labeled
“3-way Open”, “3-way Close”, and “3-way L”. Alternately, with a different piping layout, a DHW pump can be
connected to the harness leads labeled “L and Close”. Cap the wire labeled “Open”.
In this configuration the following can be done:
1. Adjust the boiler minimum and maximum temperature setting via the potentiometer located on the display
panel, within the range of 95 – 195°F.
(Parameter 2 EB, 2 EA)
2. Set the flow temperature to the DHW tank.
(Factory default is 185°F) (Parameter 2 CE)
3. Set the DHW water temperature .
(Factory default is 140°F)
(Parameter 2 LF)
4. Pump P3 can be controlled based on the Room Thermostat, and wire to P3 leads.
Caution: Maximum
available wattage for external load on the FMT 914 control board is 550 watts. If pumps P1 & P3 total
less, they both can be powered directly off the board. If not a relay (240v coil) must be used for pump P3.
It is important to set the red potentiometer wheel to the desired setpoint on the Lag boilers with the power off to
the Lead boiler. This way, in the event of a control or power failure to the Lead boiler, the Lag boilers will operate
at the desired temperature.
