•
If no signal tone sounds when you press the
TEST
button,
the smoke alarm is
not activated! Repeat the activation
process
until the smoke alarm reacts correctly to the test!
After successful activation and if the smoke alarm is
functioning properly, the LED will emit brief flashes of light
approximately every 344 seconds.
5.2 Mounting the smoke alarm
•
Attach the smoke alarm to the mounted base plate by
guiding the snap-in hooks into the intended openings
and rotating the smoke alarm clockwise.
•

base plate.
•
After installing the smoke alarm, check that it is function-
ing properly. To do this, press the
TEST
button. A signal
tone should sound.
•
If no signal tone sounds, repeat the activation process as
described in
5.1 Activation
.
6.Operation
6.1 Emergency escape plan (recommendation)
•
Discuss and create an emergency escape plan together
with your family and/or the people you live with.
•
If possible, include alternative emergency escape routes,
as a fire can block standard routes.
•
Demonstrate the smoke alarm to your family and/or the
people you live with (see
7.2 Alarm simulation
) and
make sure that everyone knows what to do if the alarm
goes off.
•
Make sure that your children are also able to recognise
an alarm and can get themselves to safety.
•
Specify a location outside of your house as a meeting
point in case of alarm.
•
Regularly practise how to behave when an alarm is
triggered. The exercise will help your family and/or the
people you live with to leave the house quickly and
orderly in case of alarm.
6.2 Alarm triggered
•
When an alarm is triggered – that is, as soon as the
smoke alarm senses combustion particles or when a
simulation is carried out (see
7.2 Alarm simulation
)
– the
LED
flashes once per second and an alarm signal
sounds.
•
The alarm will continue until the smoke alarm no longer
senses combustion particles in the air or, in case of a
false alarm, you activate the mute mode (see
6.5 Mute
mode
) or you stop the alarm simulation.
Warning
When an alarm is triggered, you must always pay atten-
tion and take appropriate action immediately.
6.3 Behaviour when alarm sounds (recommendation)
Rescue yourself and others.
•
Keep calm!
•
Warn other family members and/or people you live with!
•
Now leave the house immediately and close all doors
and windows on your escape route – if safely possible –
to slow the spread of smoke and fire.
•
After leaving the house, go to your prearranged meeting
place and ensure that all persons have left the house.
Call the fire brigade
Call the fire brigade as soon as you are in safety.
Attempts to extinguish a fire
Only attempt to extinguish the fire if doing so does not
endanger yourself or others, and you have suitable fire
extinguishers.
6.4 Alarm memory (memory warning)
•
After an alarm has gone off, the smoke alarm stores the
alarm.
•
The green LED light flashes three times in quick succes-
sion every 43 seconds. The user can thus tell whether the
smoke alarm has triggered while they were away.
•
After 24 hours, the LED indicator goes out. The alarm
memory is cleared when you press the Test button.
•
Now press the Test button again to carry out a new
function test.
6.5 Mute mode (in case of false alarm)
Warning
Before you activate the mute mode, identify the cause of
the alarm and ensure that there is no other danger!
