3 OrbiPack PC Software
The Package Analyzer system cannot function without the OrbiPack software. Before
attempting any measurements with the analyzer, ensure that:
• An RS232 cable connects the PC to the instrument
• The PC is turned on
• No screen savers have been set on the PC
• The OrbiPack program is running
3.1 General Information
3.1.1 OrbiPack Startup
The very first time the OrbiPack program is run, a username of
Orbisphere
with no
password can be used to gain full access to the system. Change the security levels as
soon as possible to remove this facility and protect your system (see
“Change Supervisor
Password” on page 38 for more details).
Note:
If the "Cancel" button is pressed, with no username or password entered, the program is
still launched, but the data file is opened as read only.
Click the OrbiPack program icon on the desktop, or select OrbiPack
from the Windows Start menu.
Depending the communications setup that has been
defined (see
“Communication” on page 37 for more
details), when the program is launched and for each
new file, the operator user name and password may be
requested.
The software checks if any calibration delay has expired
(see
“Calibration Management” on page 38 ). If so, a
popup window appears as illustrated left.

After a valid username and password are
entered, the message illustrated left will be
displayed to remind you, for safety reasons, to
use the package shield prior to piercing any
package.
