Operator Manual

ORBISPHERE

2.3.3 Instrument Back Panel Connections

Personal Computer (PC)

Connect, using the RS 232 "serial" cable, the 6 pin
socket on rear panel of the instrument to the RS-
232 port on the PC operating the OrbiPack
software.
Pin 2 = RCD / Pin 3 = TXD / Pin 5 = GND
RS-232 communications parameters:
Baud rate: 9600 / Stop bit: 1 / Start bit: 0 / Parity:
None

Electrochemical Sensor

Connect the sensor to the 10 pin socket labeled
“Sensor O

2

” on rear panel of measuring instrument.

CAUTION:

Please connect the oxygen sensor to the correct
socket, because it can be damaged if it is plugged
into the socket labeled “Sensor CO

2

(or N

2

)”.

Thermal Conductivity Sensor

Connect the sensor to the connection box located
on the piercer base. Then connect the connection
box wire to the 10 pin socket labeled “Sensor CO

2

or N

2

” on the instrument back panel.

External Temperature Sensor

Connect the sensor cable to 4 pin socket of the
connection box located on piercer base.

Piercer Manifold

Connect the two cables from the top of the gas
channeling manifold to the two “Piercing unit”
sockets on the rear panel of the instrument.
(Inside the gas manifold are the external pressure
sensor and gas temperature sensor, which connect
to the measuring instrument by these cables)

PT 1000 Temperature Sensor

Connect the temperature sensor cable to the 2 pin
socket on rear panel of measuring instrument.

Measuring Instrument

Connect the power cable supplied with the
instrument for AC power connection.

CAUTION:

Check voltage requirement sticker on the rear
panel of the instrument before connecting the
instrument.
