An electromechanical device that moves the control
surfaces or throttle of an airplane according to
commands from a receiver. This device does the
physical work of moving parts around inside the
aircraft.

Setup Failures
RealFlight Term
RealFlight 7 authentically recreates common
difficulties that may be experienced at your local
flying site. Setup failures are problems where, in
ideal situations, should be detected before the
aircraft ever leaves the ground.
Sky Grid
RealFlight Term
A grid work of lines that appear in the sky when
activated. Modelers practicing precision aerobatic
maneuvers will appreciate these lines as they perfect
their routines.
Software Radio
RealFlight Term
This term describes RealFlight 7’s ability to
accurately mimic a computer transmitter (complete
with mixing, etc.) in the simulation.
Sound Card
Computer Term
A card inside your computer that controls audio
(what you hear over your computer speakers).
Most sound cards plug into your computer’s
motherboard. You can upgrade your sound card
(or the software driver that controls it) without
getting a new computer.
Specular Highlights
Computer Term
A graphics rendering technique that makes surfaces
(e.g., MonoKote™) appear reflective, or “shiny” in
direct light (e.g., sunlight).
Split S
R/C Term
The Split S is another step in learning to combine
loops and rolls and is a great maneuver to decrease
your altitude. A half roll precedes a half loop,
making the maneuver a mirror image of the
Immelman. The Split S provides course reversal
and an easy increase in speed.
