6. Install HOC rod on deck using hardware
removed in step 4. Ensure that spacer is
positioned between deck and trunnion.
7. Tighten trunnion jam nut (B).
8. Reset deck height of cut. Refer to
9. Measure blade height from front to back
and side to side. Ensure that deck is
level from side to side and that rear-to-
front rake (angle) is 3/16 in. (4.8 mm)
higher at rear.
Checking for Bent Mower Blades
1. Park unit safely. (
2. Measure distance (A) between blade tip
and flat ground surface. See Figure 36.
3. Rotate blade 180° and measure
distance between other blade tip and flat
ground surface.
4. Install new blade if the difference
between the two measurements is more
than 1/8-in. (3 mm).
5. Repeat for all blades.
Removing Mower Blades
1. Park unit safely. (

2. Turn the engine off. Remove the ignition
key. Remove the ignition wire from the
spark plugs.
3. Secure blade with a wooden block to
prevent blade rotation.
4. Remove bolts (C), blades (B) and
spacers (A) from the spindle shafts.
CAUTION:
Avoid injury! Mower
blades are sharp. Always wear
gloves when handling mower blades
or working near blades.
Only replace blades. Never
straighten or weld them.
