Deploy the receiver aerial under the deck support flange inside the hull, and tape it in place securely
(arrows).
IMPORTANT
: to ensure reliable reception, the aerial wire must be as high as possible above
the waterline, and should run round the hull in a broad curve; the GRP material only has a very slight
adverse effect on radio reception. If you prefer, you can install a vertical whip aerial made of thin, stiff
wire. If you do this, shorten the flexible aerial attached to the receiver by the same length as the whip,
then solder the two together.
•
Connect the parallel battery lead, Order No. 3061,
to the speed controller. Place the batteries in the
model, connect them to the parallel lead and
check the working systems. The batteries must be
fixed securely, so that they cannot slip out of
position when the boat is running. It is a good idea
to attach a piece of Velcro tape to each of the
batteries and the hull; this will prevent them
shifting.
NOTE:
the two supplementary batteries
are required in order to bring the model to the
correct position in the water.
NOTE:
the batteries
must be positioned in the hull in such a way that
the vessel floats level at the marked waterline.
NOTE:
the photograph shows the approximate
position of the batteries. The picture shows them
mounted upright, but they must - of course - be
installed horizontally in the boat.
•
Replace the hatch cover and the superstructure on the model and carefully re-connect the derrick
rigging.
•
Suspend the two ship’s boats in the davits, as shown in the photos.
TIP:
once the boats are in place,
squeeze the hooks together gently so that they cannot fall off when the boat is running.
