Accelerometer
Mount the accelerometer on a flat, stable surface. The selected location should not be subject
to vibration exceeding that experienced by the vehicle chassis. A frame mount or reference
location is preferred. Failure to consider location variables may contribute to erroneous
activations. Ensure the mounting location is not subject to exposure to liquids during vehicle
cleaning. Damage or corrosion of components may results if unit is sprayed down with
water or other cleaning liquids.
To install the accelerometer, do the following:
1. Using the accelerometer as a template, mark the location of the mounting holes.
Align the accelerometer so that it is square with the front and back of the vehicle so
that the
Y arrow points to the front of the vehicle ( Figure 45 ).

2. Drill the mounting holes with an appropriate size drill bit.
3. Connect one end of the supplied serial cable to the DVR back box DB-9 connector.
4. Route the other end of the serial cable through the back box wire hole and to the
mounting location for the accelerometer.
5. Calibrate the accelerometer (see Calibration on page 62) and mount it.
