WARNING—Risk of Burns!
During ope-

hot. Additionally, the appliance is designed
to produce hot water and hot steam under
high pressure. Always ensure to assemble the
appliance completely and correctly before
connecting it to the power supply. Always

and wait until the appliance cooled down,
before cleaning or moving the appliance.
Always keep the working space clean and
dry. Do not pour or spill any liquids on or
under the appliance. Do not place clothes
or similar materials on or under the appli-
ance during operation. If any liquid has been
spilled on the appliance, immediately switch
OFF and unplug the appliance. Thereafter

tions in chapter ›Care and Cleaning‹.
Note:
To enter standby mode, the steam lever
must be switched OFF (horizontal position).
BEFORE FIRST USE
The appliance is weighting approx. 16 kg. It
is good advice to unpack it not alone.
1. Remove the Accessories Box.
2. Place the shipping box on a table with
the appliance in an upright position. Then
pull the appliance out of the box.
3.
Remove and discard all promotional
labels, stickers, and packaging materials
attached to your Espresso Machine, but
do not remove the model label and serial
number on the bottom of the appliance.
For shipping, the drip tray, storage tray
(behind the drip tray) and the water tank
are installed correctly. You remove the
drip tray by simply pulling it out. Always
ensure that young children do not play
with any parts or accessories or the packa-
ging!
4. Ensure you have found all parts and
accessories before discarding the packa-
ging. See: ›Knowing Your »Design
Espresso Advanced Professional« ‹.
5. Remove the water tank located at the
back of the Espresso Machine by pulling
down the water tank handle.
6. Remove the plastic bags containing the
water filter and filter holder from the
water tank.
CAUTION:
Do not use any abrasive clea-
ners, cleaning pads (e.g. metal scouring
pads), or any corrosive cleaners (e.g. disin-
fectants, chemical bleach) for cleaning. Do
not use any hard or sharp-edged objects for
cleaning the appliance.
Tip:
To easily move your Espresso Machine,
use the drop down swivel foot. The knob
is accessible after removing the drip tray.
When turned to the icon, the swivel foot
drops down and lifts the Espresso Machi-
ne upwards, making it easier to access the
removable water tank or move the Espres-
so Machine to another location on the
table. For operating the Espresso-Machine,
do not forget to lock the swivel foot by tur-
ning the knob back.
7. Clean water tank, filter holder and acces-
sories, portafilter, filter basket, milk jug,
and bean hopper using warm water and
a gentle dish washing liquid. Rinse well,
than dry thoroughly.
8. Place the appliance on an appropriate
working place near a suitable wall power
outlet.
