3.6.2 Selecting heating parameters
Automatic modes (SL, N, V, SC):

Use the + or – button to select the shrink-fit diameter (3–32 mm).
Manual mode (MAN):

Use the + or – button to select the heating power (0 %–100 %).
3.6.3 Heating process

For shrinking in, place the tool

in position. Hold
the tool with two fingers

, even during the heat-
ing cycle that now follows, and thereby support the
shrink fitting process.

For removal of the tool, hold it with two fingers,
even during the heating cycle that now follows, and
support the removal by pulling gently.

Gloves Risk of burns!
Because of the temperatures necessary for shrink-fitting, always wear safety
gloves. When grasping chucks, grip them only at the collar, not at the heated
zone; and always wear gloves! Even when wearing safety gloves, do not exceed
the maximum gripping time of 5 seconds for the heated object!
Note: During both shrink fitting and removal, the tool is generally free to be inserted or removed be-
fore the set time has elapsed. This is because the parameters are set to cater for the most unfavourable
combinations of tolerances of the tool and chuck.
If a tool is free to be inserted or removed more quickly, it is best to cancel the heating cycle by pressing
the
START/STOP button, so as not to inject more energy than is necessary into the chuck and the tool.
That will also achieve a noticeable reduction in the cooling down time.
