5.4.16. IEEE 802.1x
IEEE802.1x is an IEEE standard for port-based Network Access Control.
Your IP device needs to be authenticated to connect to a network protected by IEEE 802.1x.
The authentication is performed by an authentication server, and there are two types of
authentication protocols supported for your device: EAP-PEAP (Extensible Authentication
Protocol-Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol) and EAP-TLS (Extensible Authentication
Protocol-Transport Layer Security)
To configure your device to be authenticated for IEEE 802.1x, you can refer to the
corresponding instructions below according to the two different EAP types.
First, go to Setup > Network Configuration > IEEE 802.1x on the device’s webpage.
EAP-TLS type
1. Select EAP-TLS.
2. Enter Identity and Private Key password under the Configuration tab.
3. Upload the CA certificate by clicking the Browse button for the CA certificate file under the
Certificates tab and selecting the right file.
4. Upload the Client certificate by clicking the Browse button for the client certificate file and
selecting the right file.
5. Upload the client private key by clicking the Browse button for the client private key and
selecting the right file.
6. Click Enable.
7. Click Apply for the IEEE 802.1x authentication of your device.
