PART III INSPECTION AND SERVICE
6. INSPECTION AND HANDLING OF ELECTRICAL PART
■INSPECTION AND HANDLING OF BATTERY
●
For details of battery, read provided "Battery manual" well.
●
Pay attention to short-circuit, spark, and fire such as cigarette when handling battery.
Wrong handling may cause ignition and explosion. Recharge battery at a place v
ventilation.
●
Do not use or recharge the battery when fluid level is under the lower limit. If the battery
is used or recharged with fluid under the lower limit, parts inside container deteriorate
and the life of battery may be shortened, or the battery may explode.
●
Battery fluid is diluted sulfuric acid, which is poisonous. Keep battery fluid away from
body and clothing. Otherwise, eyesight may be lost or a burn may occur, which is very
dangerous. If battery fluid comes into contact with eye, skin, clothing, flush out with
a large quantity of water immediately. If it comes into eye, see a doctor immediately.
●
When disconnecting battery cord terminal, disconnect negative lead (-) first. When
connecting, connect positive lead (+) first. If the order is mistaken, short-circuit
with sparks may occur.
●
When storing the machine with battery attached, disconnect from negative lead (-) of
battery. Otherwise, rats may bite wire causing short-circuit, which may result in fire.
●
Request your dealer for disposal of battery. If battery is left alone, it may lead to
unexpected accidents, such as fire explosion and metal corrosion caused by outflowing
diluted sulfuric acid.

Inspection → Carry out before every work
●
Check if surface of the battery is dirty. If it is dirty, clean it with wet cloth.
●
Check if there is sufficient amount of electrolyte. Carry out inspection by the procedure
of your battery type.
・Indicator type
Check the amount by indicator in the upper part
●
Indicator type
●
Liquid level type
of battery. Refer to "Battery manual" for
information about indication.
・Liquid level type
Check if liquid level is between 2 lines of upper
limit and lower limit on front side of the battery.
If there is insufficient amount of electrolyte,
add distilled water to upper limit line.
Si03-20
●
Lack of battery fluid causes damage to battery. If there is too much battery fluid,
it spills causing corrosion of the machine.
