The fan motor speed can be controlled by means of suitable
frequency converters.
If frequency converters are used, in order to ensure that the
machinery complies with Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
requirements replace the cable and the cable gland supplied with
shielded symmetrical cables and EMC cable glands (i.e. cable glands
providing 360 ° bonding between the cable shield and the motor
housing).
You also need:
• to use shielded symmetrical cables and EMC glands along the
entire line between the frequency converter and the machine,
for example on the converter, possible junction boxes, safety
switches, motor etc...;
• do not exceed the motor/propeller rotation speed indicated in the
technical data table;
• set the converter so that the speed can be regulated within the
two limits: - maximum speed - indicated in the technical data
table; - minimum speed - greater than or equal to 50% of the
rated speed.
• the design and sizing of the electrical system are delegated to the
installer or to a deputy; all work must comply with the rules in force
in the destination country.
• Comply with the provisions laid down in the frequency converter
manufacturer’s installation manual.
6.6 FIRST START-UP
Before powering up the fan:
• ensure that there are no objects or tools inside the machine;
• check that the rotating parts are free to move with no hindrance;
• check that the louvres of the shutter, if present, are able to move
freely;
• ensure that the safety meshes are correctly secured to the
machine;
• ensure that any persons present are at a safe distance from the
machine;
• check the correct functioning of the electrical safeguards and
safety devices.
Once the fan has started:
• check for secure installation by looking for the presence of
vibrations and/or anomalous noise. If this is the case, turn off the
machine, identify the problem and remedy it;
• Check that the direction of rotation of the fan is counter-clockwise
by looking at the fan from the air intake side;
WARNING
Commissioning after a period of inactivity requires the repetition of
all the above start-up procedures.
7.1 MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS
The fans are designed and manufactured for a long service life,
even under the most severe operating conditions.
It should be noted, however, that they are pieces of equipment with
moving parts which need to be checked periodically.
Implementation of a preventive maintenance programme is
recommended, which must be carried out by specialised and
qualified personnel.
Daily inspection must be carried out to prevent failure due to the
harmful effects of the working environment, such as temperature,
humidity, dust, dirt, vibrations, and other factors.
WARNING
Maintenance must only be carried out by trained personnel in
compliance with the safety standards and regulations indicated in
this manual.
6.5.1 WIRING K53C / K53R / K53S
WARNING
When used in conjunction with dimmer accessories, the motor
may show a reduction in speed for a certain period of time for long
periods of operation at maximum speed (self-protection against
overheating). To avoid this potential setback, if the fan is combined
with dimmers for periods of operation at maximum speed for more
than 30 minutes, a reduction of the maximum speed of the fan to
approx. 90% will be required. This ensures continuity of operation
with no loss in performance and a higher level of fan efficiency.
1. The fan is equipped with a permanent magnet motor with
integrated electronics. Speed control can be carried out via a
0/10V control signal or via RS485 communication bus.
2. The motor, with integrated electronics has several factory-
configured I/O interface pins. Before connecting consult the
documentation at the end of this manual.
3. Follow the instructions below to carry out the electrical
connection:
Install the power and control cables, passing them through the
holes of the cable glands at the top right, then secure the cables
with suitable clamps (not supplied) on the right upright, then
enter the terminal box.
Strip the cables as shown in figure, then proceed to install them
in the desired configuration as shown in the electrical scheme at
the end of this manual.
6.5.2 WIRINK53C / K53R / K53S
Connect the motor cable to a power source, taking care to verify
that voltage and frequency are in accordance with what is indicated
near the motor cable outlet. For further information consult the
diagram at the end of the manual.
