Materials/corrosion (also chemical attack)
Ensure that the product and the rinsing liquids do not have a corrosive effect on the used
materials (see 1.3).
If corrosion is detected, the centrifuge must be switched
off immediately.
Corrosion will damage the materials of the centrifuge which
can affect operational safety.
Before putting the machine into operation again, the causes of the corrosion must be
determined and eliminated, corroded parts must be replaced!
If there is any corrosion, due to its electrochemical nature, all contact points of product
and material will be concerned. Thus, a component may be weakened more severely
than may be expected due to a superficial loss in mass.
Corrosion is often only noticed after a longer period of time, therefore the machine must
be checked for corrosion regularly.
In case of uncertainties, consult an authorised expert.
Wear
If excessive wear is detected, the centrifuge must be
switched off immediately.
Excessive wear of bowl and housing parts will lead to an
inadmissible weakening of the components and to
unbalances which can affect operational safety.
Before putting the machine into operation again, the causes of the wear must be
determined.
Measures to prevent and control this phenomenon must be taken.
Worn parts must be replaced.
The following limit values apply:
Point of wear max. material removal
Bowl body, internal / external 1,5 mm
Bowl strips internal 2,5 mm
Bowl wear strips, external 3 mm
Bowl wear protection bushings 6 mm
Scroll wear protection bushings 6 mm
Scroll blade, external 25 mm
Solids chute wear-resistant plastic 7 mm
Solids chute wear plate 3 mm
Housing wall, internal 2 mm
Impact protection solids compensator, internal 1 mm
Note: Wear can influence the separation result, also before reaching the limit values.
