Cooling System Installation
Generator below waterline
If genset cannot be mounted such that the centre line (generator shaft)
sits at least 600mm (24") above the water line, an air vent must be installed.
When measuring the distance from the waterline to the generator, take
boat swaying and heavier loads into consideration.
To install an air vent, cut the water hose in the capsule on the pressure-
side of the pump and extend both ends by fitting connectors and additional
hosing, take out of the capsule to a point which is at least 600mm above
the water line and if possible to a point at the midship’s line. The air vent
has to fitted at the highest point of this line (at least 600mm above waterline)
(See Diagram on next Page).
If the air vent is jammed, the cooling water system cannot be aerated after
genset has stopped, the water column is not interrupted and the engine
of genset could back fill with water.
This leads immediately to the destruction of the engine!

Generator unterhalb der Wasserlinie
Wenn der Generator nicht eindeutig mindestens 600mm über der Wasser-
linie montiert werden kann, muß unbedingt ein Belüftungsventil in die
Seewasserleitung montiert werden. Bei Aufstellung neben der "Mittschiffs-
linie" muss eine mögliche Krängung berücksichtigt werden!
Der Wasserschlauch in der Kapsel wird auf der Druckseite der Pumpe
durchgetrennt und in der Kapsel an beiden Enden jeweils mit einem
Verbindungsnippel durch ein Schlauchende verlängert. Beide Schlauch-
enden müssen aus der Kapsel zu einem Punkt, der mindestens 600mm
über der Wasserlinie liegt (möglichst in der Mittschiffslinie), herausgeführt
werden. Das Ventil wird an der höchstens Stelle, mindestens 600mm über
der Wasserlinie, eingefügt (siehe Bild auf der nächsten Seite).
Wenn das Ventil verklemmt ist, kann die Kühlwasserleitung nach dem
Stopp des Generators nicht belüftet werden, die Wassersäule wird nicht
unterbrochen und das Wasser kann in den Brennraum des Motors
eindringen.
Dieses führt kurzfristig zur Zerstörung des Motors!
ACHTUNG:
Das Belüftungsventil muß dirket hinter der Wasserpumpe
installiert werden.
Das Belüftungsventil muß regelmäßig kontrolliert werden. Hier-
zu ist es zu öffnen, zu reinigen und einzufetten.
ATTENTION:
The air vent must be installed directly after the water pump.
Check the air vent at regular intervals. Open, clean and lubricate
the valve as required.
