SAFETY
Persons, animals or items must not be placed between the airbags and
the occupant.
Environment
When the system is activated, gases are released in the form of fumes,
together with the gas used for inflating the airbags. These gases are not
harmful.
The driver's airbag
has been designed to be deployed according to the
following strategy:
●
the airbag control unit will not deploy the airbag in the event of a
minor impact;
●
in the event of a more severe impact, the ECU deploys the driver
airbag in reduced force mode;
●
in the event of a very severe impact, the ECU deploys the driver
airbag in full force.
The passenger airbag
has been designed to be deployed according to the
following strategy:
●
the airbag control unit will not deploy the airbag in the event of a
minor impact;
●
in the event of a more severe impact, the ECU deploys the passenger
airbag in reduced force mode;
●
in the event of a very severe impact, the ECU deploys the passenger
airbag in full force.
Warning
Even in vehicles with Advanced Airbag Systems, statistics show
that the rear seats are the safest position for transporting babies and
children. Children must always be transported on the rear seats.
Warning
The driver and front passenger must always fasten their seat belts and
sit in an upright position, as far as possible away from the airbag, in
order to have optimal protection in all types of collision.
Important note
Always keep the backrest of your seat in the upright position and sit
with your back properly resting against it.
Important note
Do not modify the system components or wiring, under any
circumstances.
If the instrument panel is active (KEY_ON), the airbags may still be
deployed when the vehicle is stationary if it is hit by a moving vehicle
even if the engine is off. Remember that if the instrument panel is
switched off, none of the safety devices (airbags or pretensioners) will
be activated in the event of a collision; failure of the airbags to inflate in
these circumstances is not indicative of a system malfunction.
Important note
Do not cut or tamper with the connectors of the airbag harness or on
the airbag modules.
Warning
Do not cover the steering wheel and the padded panel on the dashboard
on the passenger’s side with adhesive tape or treat it in any way.
