SAFETY GUIDELINES
The following pictograms are used in these instructions
for use:
Denotes risk of personal injury, loss of life or
damage to the tool in case of non-observance of
the instructions in this manual.
Denotes risk of electric shock.
Carefully read this manual before using the machine.
Make sure that you know how the machine functions and
how to operate it. Maintain the machine in accordance
with the instructions to make sure it functions properly.
Keep this manual and the enclosed documentation with
the machine.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Always check if your mains voltage corresponds
with the value on the type plate.
When replacing old cables or plugs
Throw away old cables or plugs immediately as soon as
new ones have replaced these. It is dangerous to put the
plug of a loose cable into the socket outlet.
When using extension cables
Only use an approved extension cable that is suitable for
the machine’s power. The cores must have a diameter of
at least 1.5 mm
2
. When the extension cable is on a reel,
unroll the cable in its entirety.
BEFORE USING THE MACHINE:
•
Check the following:
•
Make sure that your machine is correct for your
power supply.
•
Make sure the socket is earthed;
•
Make sure the cable and socket are in good condition,
i.e. not frayed or damaged.
•
Do not use long extension cables. Use only earthed
extension cables.
•
A grinding stone is fragile.
The stone is easily damaged when being dropped, hit,
etc. Always grind with the face of the grinding stone,
never the sides. A cracked grinding stone must be
replaced immediately. Due to the high rotational
velocity the stone might disintegrate, causing
accidents.
•
Always wear safety glasses when grinding.
•
Never operate the grinding machine without the
guard in place.
•
Make sure the guard and the tool rest are properly
adjusted and secured.
•
The maximum clearance between the tool rest and
the grinding stone must never exceed 1-1.5 mm.
•
Use the stone only for its intended purpose, e.g. for
grinding tools, never for heavy-duty construction
work. Use only grinding stones that state the
following:
•
Name of the manufacturer;
•
Binding material;
•
Dimensions;
•
Maximum speed.
•
Never rebore the arbor hole in the grinding stone to
widen the diameter.
•
The maximum admissable rotational velocity of the
grinding stone may not exceed the velocity
mentioned on the stone.
•
For safe grinding it is best to bolt the machine to the
bench.
•
Don't use worn-out grinding wheels.
•
Use grinding wheels recommended by the
manufacturer only which labelled velocity is equal or
greater than the velocity notified on the nameplate of
the tool.
•
Adjust the spark protection periodically in order to
balance the wear + tear of the grinding wheel. Keep
the distance between the spark protec-tion and the
wheel as small as possible, at least under 2 mm.
BEFORE YOU OPERATE THE MACHINE:
•
Make sure the switch is “OFF” before you plug in the
machine.
•
Keep the cable away from moving parts.
SWITCH OFF THE MACHINE IMMEDIATELY
IN CASE OF
•
Malfunction in the mains plug, power cable or
damaging of cable.
•
Broken switch.
•
Smoke or stench of scorched insulation.
