6 First steps
This chapter will provide you with information on the start-up of the system, on the
setting of contrast and on sensor selection. In addition, you will find a description of
the symbols and displays used in the working window as well as instructions on how
to navigate within the configuration menu and set parameters.
6.1 Before starting-up
Before first starting-up the MLS 508 it has to be visually inspected.
Check all system components referring obvious damages, all cable connections for
securely fitted position and all sensors for secure and accurate assembly.
When starting-up the MLS 508 ensure that no persons or objects are located in the
tool’s area or the range of moving parts for the tool’s control.
6.2 Starting up the MLS 508
Switch on the supply voltage of the MLS 508. Depending on the system installation,
this can be done by turning the machine’s ignition key or by activating a separate
switch on the dashboard.
For 3 seconds the following power-on message is displayed, with the system
designation, the manufacturer’s logo and 3 information lines, which are editable in
the configuration menu (e.g. company name, machine model, driver’s name, etc.).
