INTRODUCTION
FAACTOTUM is an innovative concept in the gate automation
sector and provides the possibility of customising operation of
the electronic control unit to meet each customer’s needs and
the characteristics of the system.
1.
DESCRIPTION
Before going on to describe the use of the FAACTOTUM, a few
basic points should be made clear:
1.1
What is the FAACTOTUM ?
The FAACTOTUM is a patented portable programmer for the
FAAC model 460P electronic control unit.
It consists of an ABS plastic housing containing an electronic
card with externally accessible connectors for connection to the
460P card, to a PC and to an external power pack.
The back-lit LCD display allows 4 rows of 20 characters to be
viewed.
The display light goes out after the FAACTOTUM has remained
inactive for one minute and comes back on when any key is
pressed.
The alphanumeric keyboard is of the polycarbonate membrane
type.
An internal buzzer sounds as confirmation when the keys are
pressed.
The batteries fit in a compartment located in the back of the
housing.
1.3
How is it used?
The FAACTOTUM can be used to customise operation of the
460P card.
To do this it is necessary to set the programming functions
following the guided menu that appears sequentially on the
display.
To transfer the program to the 460P the FAACTOTUM must be
connected to the card using the cable provided.
The program is loaded into the nonvolatile memory of the
460P, where it can be subsequently modified, again using
the FAACTOTUM.
The program can also be saved in the FAACTOTUM’s internal
memory (up to 16 programs can be saved) by assigning it
an 8-character alphanumeric name.
It can subsequently be reused on the same system or on
different systems or it can be modified.
Besides programming, the FAACTOTUM can be used to
perform diagnostics and to check the operation of the
automation and the connection to an external PC
(appropriate software provided).
2.
FITTING THE BATTERIES
The programmer can be powered by 4 non-rechargeable
alkaline batteries of type LR6 AA 1.5V .
To open the battery compartment, use a screwdriver or coin
to undo the screw that fastens the cover onto the back of
the FAACTOTUM, as shown in Fig. 2.
Make sure that the batteries are inserted correctly with the
polarities aligned inside the compartment as shown. Close
the cover by doing up the screw.
When the FAACTOTUM is operating exclusively with batteries,
it
turns itself off automatically after 11 minutes of inactivity
(i.e. no key has been pressed) to save battery charge.
When the programmer comes back on, it displays the last
configuration menu present before it automatically turned
itself off and the previous parameter settings are not lost.
1.2
How is it powered?
The FAACTOTUM has three different electrical power supply
options:
1) When it is connected to the 460P card by the cable, it is
the card itself that supplies power to the FAACTOTUM.
Although in this case the batteries are not actually needed,
it is nonetheless preferable to insert them because they act
as a buffer supply in the event of a power failure and prevent
loss of the configuration currently being set.
2) By battery (4 alkaline LR6 AA type inserted in the internal
compartment), which ensure stand-alone operation (i.e.
without being connected to the 460P card).
3) By connection to an external power pack w hose
characteristics are given in chapter 3 .
The power pack must not be used when the FAACTOTUM is
connected to the electronic control unit.
