3.
Remove the BIOS chip by lifting it straight up.
Set it aside and insert the replacement chip.
Once installed, close the left door first and the
right door second, making sure both latch into
place; you will feel a click when this happens. It
is normal if the chip moves a little in the socket
when closing the left door. Lastly, close the
right door. Once both doors are closed, you’ve
successfully replaced the BIOS chip.
4.
NOTE: THE IMAGES BELOW ARE USED TO SHOW WHAT
HAPPENS IF YOU ATTEMPT TO INSTALL THE BIOS CHIP
**INCORRECTLY**:
a.
If the chip is not properly aligned,
the pins will seat but the top may
slightly overhang the socket, making
it impossible to properly seat the
door.
b.
When you push the left door, the
chip will lift off the right side pins
and the door will *NOT* fully close;
even if you attempt to close the right
door, it will not close completely. In
the last picture, you can see the result
of trying to close both doors with the
chip installed incorrectly: neither will
fully close. If forced, you will break
the doors off.
