COMMUNICATION WITH EXTERNAL
MANAGEMENT/CONTROL SYSTEMS
The UPS features RS232 and USB communication interfaces and also a
management card slot. These interfaces can be used to ensure direct communication
between the UPS and the work server, configure the UPS as a client in the network
with centralized monitoring through the UPS SNMP Manager installed in the slot, and
to transmit the unit's operating status to external systems.
RS232 PORT AND STATUS SIGNALING
The unit comes with an RS232 communication cable (null modem, 3-wire) for
monitoring and controlling the UPS with the supplied software.
CAUTION! The USP is also equipped with an RS232 cable (9-wire) for relaying the
status of the UPS to external devices. The cable looks just like the communication
cable, except for pin configuration. The cables are properly identified and should not
be mistaken. The status communication takes place through an optocoupler, an open
collector. The connector's configuration is shown in Fig. 15.
