Install the covers.

Fit a new lock washer onto every screw.

Tighten the screws with the right tightening torques
(see chapter
Screw connections / Tightening
torques
).
9.4 Replacing the bearing

Remove the bearing cover (see the chapter
Replac-
ing rotor and/or O-rings of covers
).
WARNING
Metal chips shooting off
When hammering out the bearing, chips may shoot off
and cause serious eye injuries.
u
Wear safety glasses when hammering out the bear-
ing.
n
Use a suitable tool to hammer out the bearing.
n
Grease the new bearing.
n
Place the new bearing in the bearing cover.
n
Install the bearing cover (see the chapter
Replacing
rotor and/or O-rings of covers
).
9.5 Replacing the tamper plate
HC 850, HC 1050
n
Deposit the hydraulic compactor on timber support
blocks.
n
Loosen the nuts of the screws securing the tamper
plate to the rotor housing.
n
Remove the screws.
n
Use the adjustable eyebolts for lifting the hydraulic
compactor (see chapter
Transport
).
n
Lift the hydraulic compactor with a suitable lifting de-
vice.
WARNING
Injury by impacts
A sudden movement of the lifting device may cause the
person carrying out the repair to be hit and injured by the
hydraulic compactor.

Only move the lifting device very slowly and in a con-
trolled manner while there is someone within the
danger zone.
u
Always keep sight of the other person.
n
Remove the old tamper plate.
n
Deposit the new tamper plate on the timber support
blocks.
n
Secure the new tamper plate with the new screws
and washers enclosed with the new tamper plate.
n
Fit a washer onto every screw.
n
Position the hydraulic compactor over the new tam-
per plate.
WARNING
Hands and fingers being cut off or hurt
Bores and surfaces can act like a pair of scissors and
cut off or hurt parts of your body.
u
Never use your fingers to check bores or fitting sur-
faces.
n
Insert the screws from below through the holes in the
tamper plate and the rotor housing.
n
Screw the nuts onto the screws.
n
Put the hydraulic compactor down on the tamper
plate.
n
Tighten the nuts with the right tightening torques (see
chapter
Screw connections / Tightening torques
).
