3.5. Safety and control devices
3.5.1. High/Low Pressure Switch
In case of running outside the range of pressures recommended and defined by the supplier, the equip -
ment will switch off and indicate error in the electronic panel.
3.5.2. Safety Thermostat
The safety thermostat is set by the supplier to ensure that the water temperature in the storage water
heater does not exceed the standard value. If the temperature exceed this value, the thermostat switches
off the backup electric heater. Switching on is done manually by qualified staff, after analysing the reasons
for the switch off.
3.5.3. Temperature Probe
The purpose of the temperature probe is to measure the temperature values of water in the storage water
heater in order to control the system.
3.5.4. Protection against Corrosion
Besides being resistant to corrosion (stainless steel), the storage water heater has in addition a magnesi -
um anode that should be checked periodically according to information by the installer.
3.5.5. PT Security Valve
The PT valve (combined temperature and pressure safety valve) is placed on the top of the heater cylinder
and it controls and limits the water temperature/pressure from the inside of the heater cylinder. This valve
is pre-calibrated to prevent water temperature from exceeding 99ºC the pressure from exceeding 10 bar. If
any of these amounts are reached, the valve opens and releases water until the temperature and pressure
within the heater cylinder are within the set limit.
The PT valve is placed on top of the heater cylinder and the temperature valve sensor
must be completely submerged.
This safety device is included in your equipment. The installer must ensure that the drainage of the PT
valve is made in accordance with regulations.
Remember that:
• When installing horizontally, the nozzle for exiting water should not face upwards, to avoid the
accumulation of debris in the device.
• The discharge must be made in a way that there is no impediment to the normal functioning of the
valve and without risking people or property.
• The discharge must be visible and conducted in appropriate piping.
• The discharge must be conducted into an appropriate container
