received without the carrier delays. Note
how the message is arriving in two
packets. The gap between the 'A' and
'BCDE' packets is large enough to
prevent the message from being properly
processed by the device.
The bottom line shows the characters
received with the carrier delays in effect.
Delaying transmission of the 'A' packet
allows the entire message, 'ABCDE', to
arrive in a single packet. Even though the
message is received slightly later, it can
be processed successfully by the device.
The optional
Carrier off delay (T2)
can
be used to prevent subsequent
messages from being sent too quickly.
On when
synchronized
The radio's DCD line is asserted when
the radio is able to communicate with the
master.
If the radio is configured as a master, this
mode is ignored, and the DCD line is
always asserted.
On when outputting
data
The radio's DCD line is only asserted
when data is being transmitted to the
device connected to the serial port.
The
Carrier on delay (T1)
and
Carrier
off delay (T2)
times are used to frame
the data being transmitted.
Carrier on delay (T1)
The amount of time, in milliseconds, to wait before transmitting data (after
the DCD line is asserted).
Carrier off delay (T2)
The amount of time, in milliseconds, to wait before de-asserting the DCD
line (after the last character has been transmitted).
