Model EDI-53ELV Digital Indicator for Encardio-rite EL-Tilt Meter
1
INTRODUCTION
The EDI-53ELV Indicator is a customized version of EDI-53 series indicator that is suitable for use
with Encardio-rite EL-Tilt Meter, Model: EAN-31ELV.
Except for the differences described below, the EDI-53 Series Digital Indicator User’s Manual [ER
document No. WI-6002.67] is valid for most of the other operations and technical specifications of this
indicator. The section numbers given below refer to the original section numbers of the User’s Manual
that are affected by the change.

2.1
The EAN-31ELV EL Tilt Meter
The EDI-53ELV Indicator is meant for use with Encardio-rite EL-Tilt Meter, Model: EAN-31ELV only.
The EAN-31ELV tilt meter has a measurement range of
±
0.5
°
. It provides a full-scale output of
±
1V
(nominal) at
±
0.5
°
. EAN-31ELV tilt meter requires an excitation supply of 12Vdc, which is supplied by
the indicator.
2.2
Measurement of transducer output
The EDI-53 series indicator can measure full-scale input voltages up to
±
2.0 V. So the out put voltage
of EAN-31ELV which is
±
1V (nominal) can directly be read by this indicator as
±
1V.
2.3
Calculation of parameters value in engineering units
EDI-53ELV can display the tilt meter output in engineering units (mm/m). It calculates the tilt in mm/m
using the equation y = mx + b, where ‘m’ the gauge factor (GF) & ‘b’ is the initial reading (IR). The
values of GF & IR are provided in test certificates supplied with every sensor. To read the tilt in mm/m
the values of GF & IR has to be entered in EDI-53ELV in setup mode.
2.4
Non-linearity correction using polynomial calculation
The second order polynomial calculation feature of EDI-53ELV cannot be used with 5
th
order
coefficients provided in test certificates. However the 5
th
order calculation can be done by down
loading the data on pc on any “excel sheet” or “open office calc”
