BATTERY REPLACEMENT
Replacement of sealed lead acid battery in Encardio-rite
Model EDI-51V and EDI-53x series
Digital Indicators / Dataloggers
Battery replacement should be done only by a person with some technical knowledge and experience
in servicing electrical / electronics equipment.
Encardio-rite model EDI-51V and EDI-53x series of indicators / dataloggers are powered from an
internal 6V, 4 or 4.5 Ah sealed lead acid battery, technically known as VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead
Acid) battery.
Although 6V, 4 Ah or 4.5 Ah VRLA batteries are available world wide from many different
manufacturers, they differ slightly in dimensions and terminal arrangement. However, any VRLA
battery of equivalent rating and dimensions (approximately 70 mm length x 48 mm width x 102 mm
case height) will work in the datalogger.
To replace the battery, you will need a 2.5 mm allen key and a ¼” (6.35 mm) nut driver or a standard
long nose plier. Follow the steps given below to replace the battery:
Power off the datalogger if it is on.
Lay the datalogger face down on a flat table. Open the back cover of the datalogger by unscrewing
the 12 retaining screws using a 2.5 mm allen key. The photograph shows the rear view of the
datalogger with the back cover removed.
Remove the two long nuts, marked A and B, holding down the battery clamp using a ¼” (6.35 mm) nut
driver. Alternately a standard nose plier can also be used. Remove the spring washers then the plain
