washers from the battery clamp studs on the datalogger.
Remove the battery together with the battery clamp by guiding the battery with the clamp straight out
off the holding studs.
Separate the clamp from the battery.
The battery is provided with two-tab terminals one of which is marked with a + sign (marked T+ on
photo). This terminal is also identified with a red colour and is the positive terminal of the battery. The
unmarked terminal is the negative terminal (marked T – on photo). The datalogger supply is
connected through two wires terminated in female tab connectors. The positive supply wire is of red
colour and the negative supply wire is of black colour. Disconnect the two datalogger supply wires
from the battery by pulling out the respective tab connectors.
To connect a new battery, identify the positive terminal and push in the red wire tab connector firmly
on the terminal. Similarly connect the black wire to the negative terminal of the battery.
Position the battery clamp over the side of the battery, as shown in photo, and route the wires over or
under the battery clamp as may seem necessary.
Lower the battery together with the clamp over the battery holding stud in the datalogger so that the
studs pass through the holes in the battery clamp.
For each stud, first put on the plain washer, followed by the spring washer and then screw on the long
nut thus securing the battery clamp to the datalogger. Tighten the long nuts using a moderate force so
that the battery is securely held by the clamp. Due to small dimensional variations between batteries
from different manufacturers a piece of card board or foam rubber tape packing may be required to
eliminate any free space between the battery and the clamp.
Assemble the back cover by screwing back the 12 retaining screws.
The datalogger is now ready for use. Turn the datalogger face up, turn on the datalogger and check
for proper operation.
Disposal of discarded battery
As the sealed lead acid battery contains lead, which is considered a hazardous substance, there are
strict regulations regarding method of disposal of discarded batteries in most countries. Discarded
batteries should be disposed off in a manner as required by your local laws or regulations. Your local
laws may require the battery to be returned to a collection centre for recycling.
