Only use your Device after you have received
training from your healthcare professional.
z
Persons who cannot handle or operate their
Device easily (for example, the visually impaired
and elderly) must take help from a trained
caregiver or healthcare professional.
z
Do not
point the bottom of your Device in
the direction of a person when operating your
Device. This could lead to a needlestick injury or
the medication entering someone’s eyes.
z
Do not
drop your Device or use it roughly. Doing
so could damage your Device or your Cartridge.
z
Do not
use your Device if it does not appear
to be working properly and
do not
attempt to
repair a faulty Device.
z
Do not
insert your fingers or foreign objects
inside your Device.
z
Always use your Device in a well lit room.
z
Avoid using your Device in direct sunlight as this
may obscure the LCD display. Not being able to
see your Device properly may result in incorrect
administration or injury.
z
Do not
rinse or put your Device under water.
Avoid spilling liquid on your Device. If your
Device has been exposed to liquid, wipe it with a
clean, dry cloth.
z
Do not
use your Device in humid, wet or damp
conditions such as the bathroom.
z
Do not
use your Device in extreme hot or cold
conditions. The operating temperature of your
Device is between 5 °C to 35 °C (41 °F to 95 °F).
z
Do not
use your Device in a vehicle.
z
Do not
use your Device near electrical appliances
such as a microwave or anything that may emit
electromagnetic radiation. Doing so could
damage your Device.
z
Do not
inject through your clothes.
z
If your Device heats up abnormally, emits fumes,
or an abnormal smell or noise, turn it off and stop
using it.
z
Do not
use your Device in a concentrated
oxygen environment.
z
Do not
use your Device near aerosols or sprays
containing combustible gases.
z
Do not
store your Device with a new or used
Cartridge inside it.
z
Do not
attempt to remove your Training
Cartridge or Enbrel Dose Dispenser Cartridge
from your Device without following the
instructions for the ejection sequence. Refer to
Your SMARTCLIC Injection Device at the start of
this manual for instructions.
z
Do not
reuse your Cartridge if the needle cap has
been removed.
z
Do not
use your Cartridge if any suspended
material is seen in your Cartridge window.
z
Do not
use a Cartridge that has passed its
expiration date.
z
If the medication comes in contact with the
eyes or skin, immediately wash it off with water.
If there is any discomfort after washing off the
medication, consult your healthcare professional.
z
Handle your Device with care to avoid a needle
stick injury.
z
If the skin appears to have been wounded by an
injection from your Device, stop immediately and
consult your healthcare professional.
z
Safely dispose of used Cartridges and alcohol
wipes as instructed by your healthcare
professional or pharmacist and in accordance
with local health and safety laws. Blood adhering
on to the needle, alcohol wipe, or Cartridge could
cause an infectious disease.
z
Keep your Device and Cartridges out of the sight
and reach of children and adolescents.
z
The caps may cause choking hazard if swallowed.
Dispose of the Enbrel Dose Dispenser Cartridge
cap immediately, and replace the Training
Cartridge cap firmly in its original position.
