12.2.2.2.3 Variable clipping
This clipping method allows you to edit clipping limits, set or delete
domains and use the “invert” function.
Select the requested item from the menu and press OK to confirm.
Set clipping domains
Point of start is the A-scan image on the left. It has been created by
measurement of a 2-layer sample with the global clipping function being
enabled. No additional clipping domains have been defined so far. 3
layer interface echoes have been extracted with the first two echoes
representing “true” echoes while the third one has been extracted from
an interference.
Press Help/Extras to call the A-
scan image menu. Select “clipping
limits” followed by “Create”.
The A-scan image appears displaying a high-lighted doted area, the so-
called blocked domain. For the moment, this blocked domain reaches
in right direction from the cursor to the end of measuring range. It
moves according to cursor position. Use the cursor to adjust the
starting times (function keys “left” and “right”) and the amplitude limit
(“arrow up/down” keys) of the clipping domain to be created.
If the cursor is located above the zero line, the blocked domain will
range downwards and vice versa.
To create a clipping domain for the first echo, place the cursor behind
the second coupling echo. Make sure to adjust the amplitude limit so
that the first layer interface echo will clearly protrude. Press OK to
confirm.
