9.8.4 Manual geometric modes
Each function allows you to mathematically calculate the chosen geometric body passing through the
indicated points.
Any inaccuracies depend on incorrectness in the points’ choice and detection or on tools’ shape errors, not
on the correctness of the maths calculation.
Here are some important recommendations to get manual calculations as precise as possible:
−
always choose the two points close to the ends of the geometric body to be calculated, in case of a
circle choose the the remaining three at uniform distances from the the two ends;
−
each point to be detected has to be placed on the optical axis of the presetter, that is, it has to be
focused. In case of a conical mill, the angle to be measured is positioned on the helical profile of the
tool, so rotate the spindle first to focus on the part of the mill to be measured and detect the point. This
operation has to be done by the operator subjectively, as the focusing indications supplied by 212V
are only valid for the collimation points and not for the point we want to detect for the calculation;
−
to better appreciate the focusing of the point to be detected, operate in analog mode;
−
rotate the spindle to focus points not only for mills, but also for insert tools having a rake.
9.8.5 Manual acquisition of angles
This function is only active in fixed grid mode, it allows you to manually calculate the
value of an angle on the framed profile, detecting two points of the centre of the grid and to
acquire it for the tool table or the rapid printing of a label.
The operator has to make the shown image as clear as possible in order to measure it:
focusing, cleaning from dust and chips and correct framing
As shown in the following pictures, after the function is activated, bring two points of the line in
collimation with the center of the fixed grid, to measure the angle of the line and detect its values.
