STORAGE, TRANSPORT AND MAINTENANCE
Storage
Continuous storage temperature approx. -20 °C to
+30 °C, dry and protected from daylight. Avoid con-
tact with chemicals or corrosive substances. Prevent
mechanic strain by crushing, pressure or tension.
Transport
Protect the product from direct sunlight, chemicals,
contamination and mechanical damage. To ensure
this, use a protective bag or special storage and
transport containers. It should be strong enough to
be protected from damage by the crampons.
Cleaning, Maintenance
Wet crampons should be taken from the transport
container after the tour. Clean contaminated prod-
ucts in hand warm water (if needed, add pH-bal-
anced soap). Rinse properly. Dry at room tempera-
ture, but never near radiators! Repairs may only be
performed as outlined in the instructions of the
manufacturer. Flash rust showing on crampons is
normal and can be removed by polishing with ac-
id-free oil, silicone spray or similar. Commercial,
halogen-free disinfectants may be used if required.
SERVICE LIFE AND REPLACEMENT
The service life of the product mainly depends on the
type and frequency of use as well as on external influ-
ences. When approaching the durability limits or latest
at the end of the maximum service life indicated, the
product must be removed from use. The material fa-
tigue resulting from dry-tooling may lead to failure of
the equipment. Prior to each use, the equipment must
be scrutinized carefully as set forth in the safety notes.
MAXIMUM SERVICE LIFE/USEFUL LIFE
No limitation (Brice: 14/10 Years).
Before use, check the product for possible damage
and correct function. If in doubt concerning the
safety condition of the product, remove it from use
immediately.
Immediately remove the crampon from use if any of
the following applies
- fall and impact from great height,
- extreme grooving and/or deformation,
- damage is visible or the function is impaired,
- the points are worn down to less than 4/5 (80 %) of
the original point length.
Repairs may only be performed as outlined in the
instructions of the manufacturer.
Inspection
In case of commercial use, the product must be in-
spected regularly or at least once a year by the man-
ufacturer, a qualified person or an approved inspec-
tion body/agency; thereafter it may have to be ser-
viced or removed from use.
